~ Fred Vanterra in Barcelona ~

16.05.2012

Maybe you’ve recognized, that I replaced the header image a couple of days ago. “Finest Folk For Free” is the new headline of this blog to remind all my new and old visitors that they can download all my tracks on my music page for free. Anyway, I don’t want you to forget the old picture on the top of my homepage showing me in Barcelona on May 12th, 2011, so here it comes:

~ Fred Vanterra – Being Myself ~

06.05.2012

It’s been a while, since I published my last song, Bergen, but now I’m back with some fresh music!

Fred Vanterra – Being Myself

If you like this track, you can donate below:

Happy listening :)
~ Fred Vanterra

The lyrics:

Fred Vanterra – Being Myself

Whatever I do – I regret
Whatever I say – I take it back
Never gonna stop, never gonna stop…

Wherever I go – I lose my way
Wherever I am – Don’t wanna stay
Never gonna stop, never gonna stop making mistakes…

Whenever I start – I’m outa date
Whenever I stop – I am too late
Never gonna stop, never gonna stop…

Whoever I am – I’ll find myself
by being not you, (or) somebody else
Never gonna stop, never gonna stop being myself…

I wrote another song though I just know two chords
And if you want more then I shouldn’t care
It’s just the good ol’ Fred
Still not looking like Brad
And if you don’t like me I shouldn’t care

But I care…

Hey Folks!

As you’ve might read in my previous post, I’ve got a new camera, that makes fantastic pictures and Full HD movies - one good reason not only to sing my songs, but also to show you how I sing them. :-) So have fun watching the first movie of my “Map Sessions”, me singing my song Given.

~ Shake it, Baby! ~

I’ve just bought the “Schlagwerk SK Set”, a set of basic shakers consisting of the SK 30 “Shorty” Shaker, the SK 35 “Mezzo” Shaker and the SK 40 “Double” Shaker. The set is manufactured from untreated wood with some stylish “black eyes” veneer.

I hope that these three wooden fellows will improve my percussion skills, broaden the sound of my songs and just make a lot of fun, when I’m playing them on my own or in Sean O’ Casey’s Folk Session every Monday. Shake it, Baby!

~ Sneak Preview ~

Hey folks!

It’s been a long time, since I’ve recorded and published my last song, Bergen, in December 2011. But don’t you think, that I’ve become lazy and unproductive this year! Quite the contrary: Here you see a little sneak preview of the upcoming tracks on my album “Vanterra”: “Servant”, “Waiting For A Change” and “Sunflowers”. Although I haven’t finished those three tracks yet, I can already show you some parts of it – in my first YouTube Video, a short medley, that you should definitely check out now!

~ Bergen Artwork ~

10.01.2012

Yesterday I finally found the time to finish the artwork for Bergen, my latest song and now I took a picture with my new Canon EOS 600D.

The canvas is – compared to my other artworks - very bright and the lines are very thin. Like the song. “Bergen” is supposed to be a whispered word of admiration, that flies over the fjords of Norway.

I hope you admire my art as well,

Fred Vanterra

~ Fred Vanterra – Bergen ~

20.12.2011

The next song of my album “Vanterra” sounds a bit like Given, it’s like the extension of the introverted pause in the middle of my album.

Fred Vanterra – Bergen

I really hope you can get immersed in this song…

Happy listening :)
~ Fred Vanterra

The lyrics:

Fred Vanterra – Bergen

Gorgeous mountains are mirrored by the riverside and
the colour of snow is simply as bright as white and
a lake, a fountain with water as cold as ice and
I’m coming home now for the rest of my life

And all of time, all of time, all of time stands still

I’m walking on the promenade, seeing the buildings, their faces
I’m breathing their history, the feel of the middle-ages,
if there’s a heaven and heaven is a place on earth then
somewhere between these cliffs is a ceaseless end

And all of time, all of time, all of time stands still

19.12.2011

Hey guys! Aren’t you tired of regarding my artworks through the lense of a low quality tablet, too? Have you ever wondered whether you will see some promo pictures someday? Don’t you ask yourself, if there will be ever a music video from my songs? Or at least a record from a live performance?

Well, this new possession will answer all these questions. Be prepared for a revolution in visualization and say goodbye to the last underexposed, blurred and noisy picture.

~ Fred Vanterra And Finn Dorian Live ~

01.11.2011

Yesterday was the day of my very first live performance, only four months since my birth in July. The show was also the first live performance of my band Minorcracy, that was additionally embedded in Katharina Hake’s documentary about my bandmate Finn and me.

Finn and I rushed the open stage of the pub called “Nörgelbuff” and we played our current songs “World On Fire” and “Reflection”, did an acoustic remake of our old Nu Metal song “Keeping Calm” and did a cover of “Kids” by “MGMT” with our friend and filmmaker Katha. Although Finn and I were so extremely stage frightened and did a couple of mistakes dued to our fright and the fact, that we had nearly no time to practice, it was an important, overwhelming and highly emotional experience.

So this is just the beginning. May thy gigs come! :)
